Below is a guide on how to help setup our track on a race night. Packing away is the opposite. Please take care at all times to prevent damage to the track, venue, yourself and other users of the community centre.
IT IS APPRECIATED IF EVERYONE WHO CAN HELP SETUP DOES, THIS ENSURES THE TRACK IS LAID OUT READY TO START ON TIME SO WE CAN ALL GET SOME PRACTICE DONE.

First lay out 4x rolls of carpet starting with the lowest roll of carpet on the racking, placing it at the furthest side of the hall, then the next roll and so on until all 4x carpets have been rolled out. Place the carpets by the toilets with a small gap to allow for pulling the carpets straight afterwards, then roll them away from the toilets.
Gently pull the carpet straight towards the toilets to help flatten them, being careful not to curve the carpets and induce a curve or bumps in the carpet surface. The carpets should be close to the wall of the toilets for maximum track space.
Determined by the track plan, place the timing loop on the floor underneath the carpet before taping it down.
Tape the carpets from the furthest side of the hall from the toilets with 2″ wide tape, starting with the furthest carpet join from the pit area.
Place the 6x wall spacers around the extended brickwork of the furthest wall from the pitting area, these are to prevent the cars from hitting the hall’s heating system.
Place all of the perimeter track barriers out first. These are numbered at each end of the barrier from 1 to 24 like a domino set. Start with number 1 by the disabled toilet, number 2 and so on observing the below pictures on how the different lengths overlap with each other.
There should be approximately 1m between the track and toilet wall for access to the toilets and approximately 1.5m-2m between the carpet and the pitting area wall for access around the building. It is important this is adhered to for safety reasons.
It is important to not drop or drag any track markings or other equipment over the carpet surface as this will cause damage and tears in the carpet, please place all track markings on the track with care.

Next lay the barrier that holds in the main straight, place this on the side of the carpet join closest to the pitting area so the main straight is approximately 2.25m wide, this will help everyone to see their cars on the straight and to help avoid crashes.
Next follow the chosen track drawing for the night, placing the corners out then filling in the rest with the barries, connecting them up so there are no sharp joins or barriers sticking out that could get hit and cause damage to the track, cars or marshals.
To pack away it is the reverse of the above, packing the main markings away first, the perimeter barriers, removing the tape and rolling up the carpet back onto the racking.
IT IS APPRECIATED IF EVERYONE WHO CAN HELP PACK AWAY DOES, THIS ENSURES WE ARE OUT OF THE HALL ON TIME AND DO NOT UPSET OR GET PENALISED BY THE OWNERS OF THE HALL.
I’m not a great set up of track person, but I will certainly help to put away.
